Alright, Strider 1, here it is, the final confrontation with Mihaly Archange Shilage, also known as Mister X and ironically, the battle with the lowest stakes.
For this cage match/dog fight, I made sure to face Mihaly with his own SU-30SM (not to mention the Voslage Air Force Emblem) as a sign of respect, not to mock him, mind you, when I came to avenge Brownie, Champ, and Wiseman. (Mihaly is easily my favorite Ace combat enemy with Yellow and Pixy as close seconds)
This is the final duel with the devil and although it's probably the easiest, on Ace difficulty, that Rail Gun is the most dangerous weapon in the game (save for the FUCKING missiles in the Faceless Soldier) but if you're playing on Ace, it means you've earned your 3 strikes already and should have no difficulty strafing that bad boy.
Tips:
Use the Triangle Tracker Button, I mean, it looks great and it's super helpful for following Mihaly's radical movements and you should be using it tactically all the time anyway. Save your special ammunition for him too, especially if you're a piece of shit like me who enjoys using the cheap-ass QAAMs (if you have honor, do not use these missiles). You can use some Special missiles on SOL squadron but leave plenty for Archange. They are best utilized when Mihaly tries to gain distance as he charges his rail gun; here is his biggest opening as he only flies straight ahead for a spell with no deviation. Of all the enemies you'll face, other than Hunin and Munin ADF-11F's, he has the most advanced flight pattern, so try to stay close and don't waste your time with Pixy jousts as he can avoid your missiles with ease. He's best damaged while tracking and always when he goes for the rail gun, in fact, this part is what makes him easier than his previous two battles because the opening to do damage here, is so easy.
Be Warned: Mihaly is immortal and cannot be shot down until he says those infamous words "There are pilots like you in every generation and I've felled every last one of them." Once those words have been heard, he is free game, however, a true Ace Pilot will have already made multiple hits on Mihaly at this point. If you batter him enough times prior to this line, a single missile can down his craft once he's said the quote.
Good luck Trigger/Strider 1/Spare 15/Mage 2. Get in there with that monster and take the Sky Kingdom from its king.
