In the past two weeks, word has been going around that the Rcadia World Series match between Starbuck and Scars might’ve been influenced by matchfixing.
Given the fact that the result of that match didn’t benefit any of the players, It is a fact that the outcome was never successfully fixed or manipulated.
This doesn’t rule out a potential matchfixing attempt and we started to investigate the issue with great care.
The allegations work with very little evidence but a lot of speculation, interpretations and drawn conclusions. These can at least be questioned or refuted with the greater context achieved in the past few days. Same goes for some of the presented sources.
Reports about Scars behavior at the event before, during and after the match also
do not fit a potential matchfixing attempt prior to the match.
While nothing can ever be proven for sure given the nature of the event, the presented indications do not justify a punishment of any of the players involved.
We believe that it is likely, that other events during the weekend and beyond lead to a personal issue
between Starbuck and Scars that has since been resolved. We also believe that the accusations towards
the two players were based on limited available information at the time and raised in spirit of fair competition.
We thank everyone involved in the investigation for their time and effort trying to clear this up. We stay available to reopen the investigation in case new evidence is presented to us.
