I went into this game thinking, just another arena shooter. Man was I wrong, this game is anything but. Desperate: Vladivostok was a real gem to find and review. The game takes place in a comic book style cyberpunk world. Just looks and feels amazing, very immersive. The style of game, is a fast paced, FPS, action, physically moving bullet hell. This game is like SuperHot, but with more bullets, more enemies, faster gameplay, more need to keep physically moving around. You will be dodge bullets, punching enemies, grabbing anything to throw or hit with and lots of gun play action. Oh and again, the world looks amazing.
This maybe my new favorite physical shooter. I have a large VR room and love using it to move around to play games. This game made great use of it, and worked up an adrenaline pumping, hand shacking experience. I have not felt this alive and pumped in VR gaming in a while. They are not lying about the adrenaline pumping action or bullet hell. Enemies come at you from every angle and place. You will be dodging, sliding, punching and moving every second when the battle starts up. My heart was just pounding in my chest.
The gameplay feels great. you are physically moving so its easy to get around, and should not cause any motion sickness. The weapons and combat feel really good. You can quickly equip an item or weapon with out even thinking about it. There is no reloading guns, you just toss it and grab the next best thing near by. The aim feels great, and the melee was spot on, did not feel like you are going through the enemy.
If you love bullet time, getting physical in your gameplay, and working up a heart pounding rush, this is so the game you want. If you are looking for a game where you can play seated or just move the control sticks, this is not for you. This is for the players who like to really get into their VR gaming, and want some physical fast action fun. If you liked Superhot, you are going to love this.
