Many clever people have worked incredibly long hours and done some amazing things with 2D to 3D conversion, however, the brief up until now has been to just 'add some depth' to the movies. In return, the market has responded without much enthusiasm for converted films compared to films that were actually shot in 3D.

This webinar will explain how to use camera tracking to measure the scene and recreate the true depth of the photographed material. We will also examine how to place geometry at the correct depth within the scene and we'll demonstrate how to add animated characters at exactly the right depth.

Using Autodesk® Maya® and Autodesk Flare®, we'll explain what the FBX® 2012 interchange format is and how to use it for interoperability between the two apps. Finally, we'll demonstrate the use of camera based projection and show you how subtle nuances can really bring a shot to life.

Although we'll be mainly working inside Autodesk Flare and Maya, many of the techniques shown will be useful no matter what platform you're on.
