Adventure Island Abridged is a hack made by nesrocks. The hack can be found at http://nesrocks.com/blog/adventure-island-hack/

What the hack does is it reduces repeated content on the game and adds a few gameplay tweaks to arranged mode (this TAS plays on original mode).

Both modes feature only 9 levels, handpicked from the game's original 32. The chosen levels are, on this order:

Level 1 (old 4-1): (normal forest)
Level 2 (old 3-2): (hills)
Level 3 (old 7-3): (gray cavern)
Level 4 (old 7-1): (ice cavern)
Level 5 (old 7-2): (tropical isla
Level 6 (old 8-3): (green temple)
Level 7 (old 8-2): (tropical isla
Level 8 (old 8-1): (rocky mountai
Level 9 (old 8-4): (dark forest) and Boss

Levels were selected to keep content fresh and also because they were their hardest versions. The levels themselves are untouched, but the score system has been removed and a time attack system has been put in its place.

Also, the ending screen has a few improvements and is more informative.
