Billions of dollars in video gaming. The world market for video gaming is booming in PC, console and smartphone gaming. Currently, the market of the video gaming industry is 16 trillion (180 billion) dollars. This market is getting bigger day by day.
Like other IT based sectors, Bangladesh has great potential in game development. A large part of this market can be occupied by the country's young gaming developers.
As part of building a digital Bangladesh, the current government wants to earn 5 billion from the ICT sector by 2025. At this point, if we could capture even 5 percent of the video gaming industry, it would be possible to earn 6 billion dollars.
However, the people concerned think that more importance needs to be given to video game development. Several companies are operating locally on a small scale in the country.
Several international gaming development companies have already opened offices in the country as well as investing in them. Ginga and Munfrog are working in the country on a large scale.
Although it started its initial activities with 19 employees, at present the company is working with about 100 manpower. Billion-dollar US gaming company Jingao, based in California, has opened an office in the country.
