The Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign in Age of Empires is primarily based on the history of the establishment of the Old Kingdom in Ancient Egypt.
This campaign is primarily designed to teach new players to learn how to play Age of Empires (as is implied in the campaign name). The early scenarios teach the players fundamentals of the game. As the campaign progresses, it teaches players more advanced strategies such as converting, trading, and even building a Wonder.
This campaign consists of 12 different scenarios, each with a different set of goals and challenges the player must face.
1. Hunting
2. Foraging
3. Discoveries
4. Advancing to the Next Age (Dawn of a New Age in the original)
5. Skirmish
6. Farming
7. Trade
8. Religion (Crusade in the original)
9. River Outpost
10. Naval Battle
11. A Wonder of the World
12. Siege in Canaan
1. Hunting is the first scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign, and introduces the player to the basic components on optimizing strategic game play in Age of Empires.
The scenario is designed to teach players how to hunt and build in the game.
"The Ice Age has passed; plants and wildlife are plentiful thanks to the improved climate. Although the technology of your tribe is still primitive, your hunting skills are excellent. Establish a small village on this Nile Delta island and grow your tribe to seven people."
2. Foraging is the second scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign in Age of Empires. Just like its predecessor, this scenario focuses on teaching the player the overall concept of the game.
In this case, the scenario focuses on developing a village in the Stone Age and the important components on gathering wood and foraging for food.
"Hunting has been good along the Nile for hundreds of years but growing numbers of hunters have depleted the wild game. Edible plants are alternative food sources that can supplement or complement hunting. Hunters have reported berry bushes across the river to the east. Find these forage sites and collect food from them. Establish a significant village in this area by building a Granary, Storage Pit, and Dock."
3. Discoveries is the third scenario featured in the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign.
The overall concept of this scenario is two things, to introduce the player on gathering secret objects as an alternative to victory, with the other being military conquest.
4. Advancing to the Next Age (Dawn of a New Age in the original) is the fourth scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign.
The scenario focuses on introducing the player the concept of promoting their civilization by advancing through different Ages.
This campaign emphasizes only the process from the Stone Age to the Tool Age, but this tactic is crucial in advancing through later stages as well. Since game play can be quite intense for new players in more advanced campaigns, it can be useful for beginners to use it as a training mode in an attempt to complete it as soon as possible.
5. Skirmish is the fifth scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign.
The overall concept of the game is to introduce the player the basic fundamentals of military combat.
6. Farming is the sixth scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign. The goal of the scenario is to teach the player to use Farms to gather food.
7. Trade is the seventh scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign in Age of Empires. This scenario teaches the player to use Trade Boats and mine stone.
8. Religion (Crusade in the original) is the eighth scenario in the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign. The scenario shows you how to convert enemy units.
9. River Outpost is the ninth scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign, and it teaches the player to use transports.
10. Naval Battle is the tenth scenario of the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign which teaches the player the importance of artifacts, and optimizing naval combat.
11. A Wonder of the World is the eleventh scenario in the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign. This scenario is meant to introduce the concept of Wonders to the player.
12. Siege in Canaan is the twelfth and last scenario in the Ascent of Egypt Learning Campaign.
It's very similar to a random map game - the player starts off in the Stone Age and can build up to the Iron Age.
