Akumajou Densetsu (Famicom)/Castlevania III (NES) Audio Comparison
There are many differences between Akumajou Densetsu for the Famicom and Castlevania III for the NES, and the most notable of these differences is in the audio quality between the two games. Akumajou Densetsu used an enhancement chip on the cartridge called the VRC6 that allowed the system to access more sound channels which were used for both music and sound effects, however the NES did not have the capabilities to utilise these enhancements and the expanded audio was cut down resulting in a much 'simpler' sound.
This video also shows the difference in audio quality between the two, marked by the musical note underneath each video when the audio from that system is being used.
