Magic Carpet is an open world, first person, magic carpet flying, shooter! A world that possesses magic becomes barren and unrecognizable by the wizards of the past who drained the life, and mana out of everything! Not just that, but they summoned monsters?? Why? Idk man, but it's up to you and your trusty magic carpet to destroy all the evil and bring life back to the world!
REVIEW: I enjoyed this. The fact that it's open world, even if the map isn't that big, still blows my mind for a PS1 game. AND IT HAS TERRAIN DEFORMATION TOo, like goddamn thats so cool that i can make little dents xD
Anyway, it was not incredibly clear on the objective or what I was capable of doing. I feel like I need to start putting a disclaimer in my descriptions saying that I dont look up any of the games that I play (unless i really wanna play it), their instruction booklets, or guides. I just try to see how the game plays with no expectation or prior knowledge, because 1) I want to be surprised, 2) I want to see the evolution of intuitive gameplay (not necessarily tutorials, but..kinda, like at least the game showing you how to play, yk).
THAT being said, it basically just said 'ok, go and destroy the evil, and save the planet', in an open world game with like no markers, or telling me a direction to start heading. You can't talk to NPCs either, as far as I could tell, because there was no way to land!
The carpet controls felt great when you're just flying around, but when you wanted to stop to shoot or look at something, it was a nightmare to get down to even a crawl; the carpet only wants to go fast!
Had no idea how my spells(?) worked. I shot down a couple enemies, and made a building appear out of the sand?? Don't know if I was supposed to. Then there's little balls that if you shoot, change colors, again, no clue what it was supposedly doing.
BUT, I liked the story. Sucking the mana out of the planet and that's why its all barren and sand. I actually kinda want to see how it evolves, even though I'm pretty sure it'll just be straight forward, 'you did it' kinda thing instead of having any kind of twist or anything.
I really want to look this game up and play more of it!
This video is a chill casual Let's Play (LP) of the retro, flying magic carpet shooter game Magic Carpet (1996), developed by Krisalis Software and Bullfrog Productions, published by Electronic Arts, for the original Playstation 1 (PS1 / PSX), recorded in 1080p (HD).
Heya, I'm Fake, I am an artist, animator, solo developer, and vtuber content creator! I say dumb, and sometimes funny things. People tell me about how they like that I'm a content creator with a deep asmr style voice, and that I'm a vtuber that is easy to fall asleep listening to; if you're into that kind of thing.
I play all sorts of video games! I especially love Action RPGs-- if you have any recommendations! Currently, I am attempting to play through EVERY (english) PS1 game CHRONOLOGICALLY in an effort to find games that are HIDDEN GEMS (to me at least)!
