Descent is a first person space shooter with 360 degrees of movement and rotational control! A mining planet has been invaded by (aliens?) and you, the player, are the only one that is a good enough pilot starship shooter whatever to take them all out.

REVIEW: I'm getting tired of the fps space shooters, but, it was refreshing to have so much spatial control of a ship (that also felt responsive--), and the nuance that you have to navigate an interior that isn't just on a flat plane, ie you have to use your rotational movemtns to adjust to the orientation and rotation of the level. It's neat.
The story is old before it even got anywhere. I named off at least two games that I've already played that had the exact same set up-- mining planet invaded, youre the only pilot for the job. Take off mining planet, and its every other space shooter I've played too.
Cutscenes were trying to do something different though. It was trying to make fun of how boring briefings are, but by pointing it out WHILE a boring (and long) briefing was happening.. just made it even more obvious that it was happening? Shouldn't the point of making fun of it be, hey lets use this as an opportunity to move this along quicker? Not, 'man this is boring schpeal, anyway lets listen to it anyway'..? YK? Also, past the first cutscene, briefings were just a block of text (which was read aloud at least). Maybe theres more cutscenes later, iuno.
Music that I remember was ok.
I'd be interested in playing this more, but not for the story.

This video is a chill casual Let's Play (LP) of the retro, scifi space shooter flight combat game Descent (1996), developed by Parallax Software, published by Interplay, for the original Playstation 1 (PS1 / PSX), recorded in 1080p (HD).

Heya, I'm Fake, I am an artist, animator, solo developer, and vtuber content creator! I say dumb, and sometimes funny things. People tell me about how they like that I'm a content creator with a deep asmr style voice, and that I'm a vtuber that is easy to fall asleep listening to; if you're into that kind of thing.

I play all sorts of video games! I especially love Action RPGs-- if you have any recommendations! Currently, I am attempting to play through EVERY (english) PS1 game CHRONOLOGICALLY in an effort to find games that are HIDDEN GEMS (to me at least)!
