Alaska’s Must-See Winter Festival
We went to the Fur Rendezvous winter festival, known locally as Fur Rondy or Rondy, in Anchorage Alaska. This festival began in 1935 and is held each year at the end of February through the beginning of March, and is a significant part of the Anchorage’s history and tradition. It’s full of great events and activities for all ages including sled dog races, the ceremonial start of the Iditarod, outhouse races, running with the reindeer, a snow sculpture competition, parade, fun run, carnival, fireworks, curling, snowshoe softball, the traditional Native American Blanket Toss and much more.
We also drove along the Seward Highway out to Girdwood to see the Alyeska ski resort and grab some great beers at Girdwood Brewery.
