After researching some game tricks and level secrets with better execution (and luck) I got a much improved run.
Weapon switching is simply using the mouse wheel back and forth to quickly cycle through weapons for more damage.
VSync is turned on. It can cause lag but having it off interferes with the vehicle maneuvering (except the tank).
If you use any cheat codes during a campaign it will label the final score as "Cheater". I used some codes while exploring the game before and it'll appear on one of the scores. I didn't use any cheats for the real run.
I may try an Impossible difficulty run in the future that would be way longer but possible.
