It has been 31 years since Dibyendu Barua became a Grandmasters. 74 more players became Grandmasters. Chess has evolved a lot since then. Yet one thing remained unchanged - A Super Tournament for Women with equal prize fund. Tata Steel Chess India 2022 changed that scenario as for the first time the Women's event is taking place and also with an equal prize fund of US$ 41500. That's not all, the Tata Steel Chess Festival has a Women's event too which has the same prize fund as the Open, worth ₹100000. Listen to the legend himself about the importance and significance of this historical edition.
