Play as both player and card in the new indie development project coming to Kickstarter next week. Inspired by old-school trading card games, Allians allows players to collect cards based on themselves and others’ Steam accounts, providing a new sense of immersive gameplay.

Card abilities and attributes reflect how much time Steam players spend on certain genres, and the power of a card is based on how much progress the player makes in Allians or the kinds of Steam achievements are unlocked. If your card is used in battle via another player’s deck, you gain experience.

“Our goal is to democratize competitive gaming by giving all players a chance to become a star, both through winning games and becoming a useful playing card for others.”, says Björn Torstensson, co-founder and CEO at Claimony, the company behind Allians.

Allians gives you a perfect opportunity to go back and finish some of those ridiculously difficult achievements you’ve put off until now. Maybe you’ll finally beat Super Meat Boy without bashing you monitor, or finish a Dark Souls run without dying (keep dreaming).

After completing any achievements, you are rewarded in Allians with more power, making your card stronger for other people and yourself.

Backers of Allians will receive special rewards that others will only dream of having, like playing against the founders and receiving a variety of card packs.
