I almost lost my mavic pro in the ocean! I was in Maui on vacation and tried to fly the mavic over the ocean for a time lapse sunset, but then a rain storm hit the beach. The wind was so high I couldnt fly the drone back more than 5 mph, and I didnt know how to turn on sport mode. I returned it to home, but the rain was coming down so hard that I couldnt touch the screen since it was not responding. I finally was able to see the drone and land it but it was pretty intense. I would say the Mavic is water resistant, but not water proof, meaning I was able to drench my mavic for a couple minutes in the pouring rain and it still works ok, but I wouldnt recommend you fly over windy ocean with chance of rain, that was a terrible idea!
