A Lonely Cottage is a first person horror adventure where a child finds herself trapped in a creepy old house inhabited by some freaky stuffed toys.
You start A Lonely Cottage a strange, run down old house next to a nice warm fire and a talking stuffed teddy. The teddy is friendly enough and will even play hide and seek with you, but the rest of the stuffed toys you encounter may not be quite as welcoming…
The demo build of A Lonely Cottage features around 20 minutes of gameplay and sees you playing hide and seek, exploring the house, searching for useful items and trying to make your escape. The house is dimly lit, but you have a flashlight which can come in handy if you manage to keep it topped up with batteries. More of a worry are the various other stuffed toys that you encounter on your adventure, which you need to avoid at all costs.
There are a few little niggles (such as the hot-spots for interactable objects being very small), but on the whole A Lonely Cottage is shaping up very nicely. It’s got a great sense of atmosphere and a cartoony visual style that’s reminiscent of Bendy and the ink Machine. The stuffed toys are a lot more interesting than your traditional horror game monsters and there are lots of great little visual touches and odd noises as you explore the house. A creepy cottage adventure well worth checking out.
