Do viral campaigns work? Do people actually DO anything with clicktivism and hashtag activism, or are they just clicking on stuff to make themselves feel better? In this video I discuss the idea of viral marketing for causes and how some are more successful than others. I focus on the examples of the recent Kony and Equal Rights campaigns and explain why I think they failed, and contrast them to the wildly successful Ice Challenge ALS campaign.
