Altergeno is my new AU, a Horrortale-like sequel following the new human Jeremiah through an Underground set thirty years after Frisk's genocide route.

OK so Mettaton in this AU is a bit complicated. Through various things, it is actually possible to claim Mettaton survives the genocide route. The main thing pointing to this being the multiple bodies he uses throughout the game indicating he may not be fully fused with a body. Also, specifically on the Genocide route, NEO gives you precisely enough EXP to LV up to 19, possibly as a proxy for a direct LV boost (similar to the one found in Undertale Yellow).

Mettaton serves as the final boss of the Pacifist route, simply because there isn't another boss fight after him.
