This is a short for Amanda the Adventurer by jpgamedesign, Arcadim, MANGLEDmaw Games.

In this short, we'll be looking at Amanda the Adventurer's secret code language, Sheepspeak!

This secret code language, Sheepspeak, shows up in one of the tapes for a split second. It’s made up of a bunch of symbols and there is a message on the fridge that says “Pause! Turn on Oven Now.” It was originally seen in the Steam demo.

In the final game though, this code was replaced with a picture instead. That’s because this code language mechanic was scrapped and replaced with the plant cipher you see in the final game. But you can still see remnants of it around the Attic. There’s this book that translates to “Who is Wooly?” or this one that translates to “Disappointing Puzzles”.

And recently, the lead developer also teased that we’d see this cipher again soon, and he even encoded the message “TRUST ME” on the wall behind him. So keep your eyes peeled because we’re gonna be seeing more of this code language in the future.

Having inherited their Aunt Kate’s house, Riley Park starts exploring what the reclusive woman left behind. In the attic, Riley is surprised to find a stack of VHS tapes next to an old TV set. Intrigued, Riley pops the first tape into the VCR.

To Riley’s surprise, it’s an early 2000’s era children’s cartoon they have never seen before. It appears to have been made locally and features a little girl named Amanda and her loyal yet shy best friend, Wooly the Sheep. While the episode appears charming and simple on the surface, an uneasiness starts to settle in as Riley realizes that Amanda and Wooly seem to be communicating directly through the television set. A gnawing feeling in the back of their mind presses them to stop, but Riley is compelled to continue watching the tapes. It’s almost as if Amanda needs something, and Riley becomes fascinated with finding out what that something may be.

What lies beneath the friendly and colorful façade of Amanda the Adventurer? Who left these tapes behind? Is the price you will pay worth the answers you seek?

This game called Amanda The Adventurer released a demo back in 2022 but now has a full release in 2023.
