(Ambient) Zelda64 Ultimate Trial Title Screen Extended to 15 minutes in N64 HQ
Note: This is a high-quality recording, which means the video and sound was uploaded to YouTube with lossless compression. These results were generated by creating an ffmpeg FFV1 avi recording in Bizhawk 2.9.1 (after running bizhawk prereqs) from frame 234-55315 (I checked which frames allow a perfectly syncing loop) with the Mupen64Plus core using Angrylion video and then, with the avi file in the dll folder, I whipped up this command after entering cmd into the dll folder directory searchbar: ffmpeg -i videorecording.avi -vf "crop=624:464:8:8, scale=1536:1152" -c:v libx264rgb -crf 0 -pix_fmt rgb24 -preset placebo -acodec copy insert-desired-file-name-here.avi
My methods of video recording ensures the best quality and zero compression on my end before the upload to YouTube. The command also rescales the video to 1152p which theoretically will force Google to re-encode into VP9 and always get higher quality results on YouTube.
If you're interested in trying this romhack, patch can be downloaded here. Apply with the flips program to an Ocarina of Time 1.0 (U) rom. https://github.com/RichieUltimate/ult... . Recommended emulator for this romhack, Ares: https://ares-emu.net/download . You can also try RMG (Rosalie's Mupen GUI). RMG previously had a vulnerability however, where users hard drives would become filled with junk gliden64 log data and cause PC's to become inoperable, but reportedly this is fixed now. Use at your own risk.
Ok, now that I've got all them technical details out of the way I want to say why I decided to record this: I really, really like the sound design of this romhack, and the presentation of this is top notch to me. It's so surreal and entrancing to me, the way there is this motion blur-like effect going on while the camera veers around, and I thought it would look best with the visuals of the N64 because of how it masks edges in low res which compliments the blur effect we see going on here and makes it all the more interesting.
Other stuff unrelated to this video and related to my YouTube and stuff: In my previous video, I tried to address the vulnerability found in the Project64 1.6 emulator, and I also brought up another Project called Project64 1.6.3 "Legacy", and I claimed it was a sham. If you have not seen my community posts however, I want you to be informed that this project is actually NOT a sham, but was easy to confuse as an update for Project64 1.6 due to how it is named, and it is not an update to Project64 1.6 and works completely differently, and instead uses its plugins and source code as its foundation. Hence why I decided to take such video down from public, because I value being sincerely and genuinely honest. Luckily we were able to make up afterwards though, and I can tell you right now that the people working on Project64 Legacy have the best of intentions for their project and you, the player! 🙂 Unfortunately, there are still a number of small quirks that need to be worked out with it, so you should wait for another update to come even if 1.6.3 is called "final" because I found numerous minor issues with it that could be addressed, including the broken aziaudio sound driver setting which also makes it so that all savestates have a massive delay because you can't use WASAPI mode, the jabo input has a setup mode which is putting in the wrong inputs if you enter stuff in quickly, save data is deleted with the indigo hack, the rom database needs to be updated with CMC for OoT roms to prevent spontaneous crashes and save type may need to be updated for the indigo hack to get the screen to update properly, the n-rage input's default range is a little too low, cheats menu doesn't interact with the emulator getting paused correctly, there's a missing code in the rom database needed to prevent random spontaneous crashing with the pause menu in the master quest debug rom in the RDI, and there are some other issues with 1.6.3 I think but I can't name them off the top of my head right now. So just like, wait for Project64 legacy to get updated and fix some bugs and problems, but you shouldn't expect it to be an update to Project64 1.6 because it's an entirely seperate project and its own thing, which is why it isn't fair to compare with PJ64 1.6. However, if you are looking for an update to Project64 1.6 with the vulnerability solved, there is good news! Another project was announced recently called Project64 1.6 Plus which aims to deliver on that from the looks of it, and when it is released I will definetly be making a video on that and showcasing it. It should be the perfect solution for everyone who is still using PJ64 1.6 for older romhacks & such or for those who continue to use it for other reasons, as hardware/console accuracy is not the aim and instead the goal is to retain the exact same emulation without introducing any regressions in the compatibility department. AKA, everything you used Project64 1.6 for is also going to work in PJ64 plus.
