Rumors say that AMD's upcoming Zen lineup of X86-64 processors will be 8 core only, but possibly have a 6 core variant for yield purposes.

Zen will be released for the end of the year and will focus on the mainstream gaming PCs which Intel have dominanted over the past few years with skylake and the upcoming Kaby Lake CPUs.
