In this video we're going to be running through the specs, performance and details of the ryzen 9 3950x, the threadripper 3960x and the threadripper 3970x, along with the Athlon 3000G.
The ryzen 9 3950x is a 16 core Matisse CPU, and as AMD promised this CPU will launch November 25th and feature a peak turbo speed of 4.7GHZ. AMD claims it's 1 percent faster than the 3900x in single core work loads, but it's the performance of the ryzen 9 3950x really shines in multi core workloads, where it benchmarks as essentially a cheaper HEDT CPU.
The new threadripper 3rd gen CPUs meanwhile are based on the zen 2 architecture, and the 3960x is a 24 core cpu, while the threadripper 3970X launches with 32 cores. These new CPUs use the new trx40 platform,
Performance of the threadripper 3970x and the threadripper 3960x essentially put it ahead of all other HEDT solutions on the market. The 3960X benchmarks about 40 - 60 percent faster than the 2990WX according to what AMD told me during the press call.
