Among Ashes - a game within a game within a computer within your game (teddyras)
1Another nextfest winner. Love finding a game I've never heard about, playing the good demo, then playing the game after it comes out a couple of months later. Among Ashes (not big on the name) has the player playing games on an in game computer from the early 2000's. You can use this to look up info on how to get past the game's bugs, download new things, chat with npc's, and later get up from the computer and do things in your house. Not the first time I've seen things like this done, but this game did a good job with it. I didn't exactly like the overarching story going on with the whole arson thing or whatever, but I thought the games within the game were all fun to play. Since the game is named after that whole thing, I guess the dev thought it was more important when really the game is barely about it and more just playing through the haunted video game rather than why it's haunted. Just did not care that much, but yeah, pull up that old john carmack quote lmao, sometimes it's right.
