♧ Richard Dadd was a Victorian artist who became famous during his life not only for his artworks, but also for killing his father whilst in the midst of a psychotic breakdown.

♧ A friend of Van Gogh's, Paul Gauguin (1848 - 1903) suffered from syphilis, alcoholism, and drug addiction. In 1903, he died at age 55 after a bout of morphine use. He was an important figure in the Symbolist movement as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramist, and writer.
