Anodyne 2 was one of the games I was most hyped about coming into 2019, and I honestly feel it's worth the wait! Made by a really small team of 2 people (like the first game) it features a mainly 3D overworld sort of exploration and parkour puzzles, while the actual combat and fighting is in the familiar 2D aesthetic from the first game.
The lore is interesting, admittedly sometimes cringe, but there's clearly a lot of love poured into writing it all. Mechanics are easy to pick up, and for this first part combat (which features a new suck and eject mechanic) is very manageable, much more so compared to the first game.
The 3D graphics themselves have been likened to visuals from an old PlayStation-era game. It's an interesting choice, is where I'll leave my opinions at that - I don't particularly love or hate it. The familiar 2D aesthetic and soundtrack that does somewhat remind me of the first game remains consistently great.
