Antares Kingdoms Review — Simultaneous Gameplay Euro!
Shelfside reviews a euro-inspired set collection board game that has everyone play simultaneously! Antares Kingdoms has everyone play as one of 12 factions over a period of 3 decades (phases) with 10 years (rounds) each. Players compete for the most victory points by collecting the most sets and dominion cards. Every year you do two actions, which will usually involve drawing and playing more cards to advance your kingdom, as well as spending gold usually as free actions to further boost yourself. Simultaneous play is definitely a cool gameplay idea, but for a euro like this, does that really do much for game night? How does this affect your strategies and decisions, especially in actions that revolve around gaining knowledge about the board state?
