Aphelion’s first iteration as a band started in Pittsburg, Kansas in 2008 under the name Goat Sabbath. The lineup consisted of Vocalist Karl Dahmer (P.G.S.K, Rimjob), Guitarist Brandon Teel (Limbloss, The Coventry Sacrifice), Drummer Frederick Closs (The Coventry Sacrifice, Rimjob, Horned Wolf), and Jeremy McCoy (The Coventry Sacrifice) on the Chapman Stick. G.S. played a series of shows in Pittsburg and Joplin before drifting into a 10 year sleep.
In 2018, Brandon and Karl discussed recording some of the old G.S. songs and maybe playing a reunion show. After much thought and discussion, they decided to take things a step further by undergoing a name change and rewriting old material and moving forward with a new vision for the band. Brandon and Karl then brought in Drummer Zach VanBecelaere (Soheil Al Fard) to complete their stripped down and raw skeleton crew.
Aphelion is now wrapping up recording for their first EP, I, and already have material for their second EP, II, to be released on Anti-All//Forever records.
This is only the beginning.
