Arc Arath: Release Trailer
7Long before the races ever took place on this channel SarahsKnight and I had been working on a game with RPG Maker 1. This project has taken ten years to complete, but it is finally finished. So here’s the trailer we’ve put together for our game, Arc Arath. Huge thanks goes out to Rina-Chan for the voice-overs, Daniel Yount for the music, and Lamar Wells and Ninanai for the artwork.

Before the dawning of creation, there was only the Heavens and the vast ocean of stars that we call the universe, and in that time, the only darkness to ever exist was that of the vast expanses of space in the cosmos. Before the starbirth of the Magical Race, creatures known as faeries, all life consisted of only the angels of Heaven – the spiritual guardians of the waking world, … and myself, the Goddess of Fate.
Upon the birth of my first earthly children, the long-living faeries, I created both the Earth and her sister planet – the blue world of perpetual magic, Elvenia. For as long as anyone can remember, Elvenia’s innocence has remained without tarnish, and the hearts of my dear children – from fairy, to human, to elf, to four-legged beast – have never been far from me. No trace of darkness could be found in the Blue World, either in the land itself or in the hearts of her people. In simple and harmonious bliss … the noble creatures of Elvenia lived for many centuries. Their spirits remained pure and uncorrupted, for they knew of nothing else but the Light, remaining naïve of the darkness of hatred, terror, and unbelief. However ….
While I, the Divine Mother who created the human world of Earth and the simpler, precious lands of Elvenia, am the personification of Light, and the harbinger of love and hope, … there too exists a great monster whom all of humanity has come to know as the Almighty Dragon, or, more clearly, the Devil - the only creature to ever exist whom was not born to me. He is the personification of Darkness and Evil, and ruler of the great Abyss that lies at the farthermost reach of the universe.
At last the Devil’s physical representation in the waking world – a terrifying monster known as the Lord of Darkness – has come to Elvenia, with the destruction of her beautiful lands and the complete subjugation of her innocent and helpless people in mind. The Elvenian people, never having known the crimson stain of Evil to darken their souls or the land around them, are helpless to do anything to stop him, and the Earth, having long forgotten the Light and the existence of Heaven or guardian angels who protect their souls, cannot even tell that the shroud of everlasting darkness is soon to close over them as well! … Who can be there to save us all?
Yet, there is a shred of hope. I have managed to find my way into the heart’s visions of a young man from Earth, and now, he and his other human friends have been summoned to Elvenia at my unbeknownst guidance, seeking both a reason to believe in my cause of Love, and the fulfillment of a legend passed on from the Holy Priestess. … That legend deemed that four young Earthlings would journey from their world to Elvenia and save her from the Dark Lord, Xenobia Sefiros.
Can the people of Elvenia hold onto their faith in their Goddess and the angels of Heaven long enough to stand with these four Earthling heroes against the Lord of Darkness and his demonic legions? Or, is my precious universe and its mortal inhabitants doomed to remain under the control of my eternal antithesis the Almighty Dragon, forever? Perhaps only the heroic Earthling children can tell at the conclusion of their adventure. May the all-encompassing light of my wings shine once again in the hearts of my children to bring forth the lasting dawn!

RPG Maker 1 is for Playstation 1. Because of this, there’s a lot of caveats to get it to run. The two things you have to have are a copy of RPG Maker 1 and a Dex Drive (a device that let’s you copy Playstation 1 memory cards to and from a PC). Alternately [read: preferably], you can get away with just emulating it on an ISO of RPG Maker 1 and either EPSXE or pSX 1.13 (to which I prefer the latter). Ten years ago, if SarahsKnight and I knew about the PC RPG Makers, we wouldn’t have gone this route. But hindsight being what it is...
