(Arcade) Mystic Warriors - 1CC, 1 Loop Completed w/ Brad - EAA version
This game was recently recommended to me by dumplechan (who has a very nice YouTube channel with lots of 1 credit clears, located here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmKaU3hOwun6dEBX2q5pxNQ).
I was looking for something new to try out and it turns out this game is great! If you like Sunset Riders, it feels like a direct sequel to it. It also has some gameplay elements of Shinobi, which I really enjoy. Aside from a couple of harsh difficulty spikes (like the infamous Skull Train boss), the game is really approachable and fun.
This 1 loop clear was done on the "EAA" version rom, which is slightly harder than the more common JAA (Japanese) romset, due to the bosses having more health. The UAA (American) rom is even harder than this version, featuring more boss health and higher rank (adaptive difficulty).
This version also loops after you beat it (unlike the JAA rom), and I only made it to the 2nd stage the second time around. The game puts the rank at max for the whole second loop, and doesn't even replenish your health after you beat it...that's some real BS! :) I cut the video after the first loop finished, if you want to see me get destroyed by the level 2 auto-scrolling section in the 2nd loop, there's a link below to the INP file you can use to watch it in an emulator.
I still would like to clear the version at Galloping Ghost Arcade, which is an Asian (non-Japanese) romset and hopefully get the no death clear, as well.
This gameplay was recorded with WolfMame v.227 using default settings. As with all my runs - no TAS (tool assistance), cheats, hacks, or save states are used. INP file available on MARP (I'm the 3rd place score): http://replay.marpirc.net/r/mystwarr
Thank you for watching, as always!
