The 1st Bishan Singh Ji Memorial All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2023 commenced on the 10th of January at the Sri Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium in Hyderabad, Telangana. A total of 495 players are participating in the five-day tournament and nine rounds will be played in total. Out of 495 players, 367 players are FIDE-rated and the top seed is IM Kushagra Mohan.

The tournament is organized by V4 CHESS. V4 Chess is a group formed by four prominent Hyderabad-based chess players. The four Chess Friends namely Ramu Kandi (FIDE Master & FIDE Trainer), Sardar Amithpal Singh (Candidate Master & FIDE Instructor), Sardar Rishpal Singh (FIDE Master & FIDE Trainer), and Beenish Bhatia (Former Under 14 & 18 National Champion) have joined hands together to promote the game of CHESS through various programs such as Chess Tournaments, Training Camps and other promotional activities that will take the game of CHESS to masses and help the budding & aspirant Chess player to realize their potential and dreams.

In the interview, Ramu, Amithpal, and Rishpal talk about their experience of organizing the tournament, the idea behind it, and the way forward. They also mention how Arjun Erigaisi's performance and legacy can motivate many more players from the state of Telangana.
