You don't have to visit the Glacier unless you're missing required keys (there's one of each here) or need more supplies. The ice-based monsters here will make you work for both, so bring the Boots of the North. This is normally where you find the Cryl Heat Ray (guarded by some Kilee troops wielding the same weapon!), BUT you can find one early at the Harbor if you use jet boots to get on top of the expedition shuttle; if you get that heat ray before coming here, the frozen hordes are easily wiped out.


Visiting the Glacier first is not recommended, but doable.
