[Arknights] Core Operator: Roberta | Portable Nian Shield
26Roberta is the first 4 star artificer where her primary purpose is to give your melee operators shields. These shields works the same way with Nian and Mudrock's shield where it nullifies an enemy attack (Except those who ignore this mechanic, i.e. Emperor's Blade skill). She is also the first supporter that can be deployed in melee tiles, which is nice for someone doing a supporter only challenge.
Anyway, her base stats are not that quite impressive, in fact I consider it as decent. She can block two enemies and has a similar base and defense stats to a vanguard, so when using her, think of her a some sort of vanguard. With this in mind, when encountering enemies with huge attack and/or defense, I don't highly recommend to deploy her in the front lines. However, she can withstand a lane when dealing with semi-medium to low defense enemies, which can be seen on my MN-8.
When looking at the general content, you will mostly use her because of shield, but to be honest it is still... eh. What I mean is that it is honestly difficult to to use her on a stage for her shield. If you want to help another operator to survive from an incoming attack, then you will rather use a medic or a debuff instead of her shield. Speaking of debuffs, Shamare somehow is better than Roberta's shield because of the doll's decrease in attack and defense. Moreover, Roberta can only nullify two attacks when you E2 her which is fine, but it is still useless when certain enemy attacks deals two or more hits (ex. Patriot).
So is she bad? Not quite. Roberta is still have some uses, such as to mobs that can one shot your operators (The normal and ice kanata dudes) or some boses that deals huge damage (with the exemption of two or more hit bosses), and she has a decent defense so you can also use her as a semi-defender. But will I recommend you to build her? For general content, maybe, as she is one of the nichest operators in the game due her skills that can be easily replace with other better alternatives. For the supporters only players, definitely! Her 2 block count can save you a lot, and she can now block enemies that required two block. Plus, she can survive a stage because of her tankiness.
(PS. I you primarily use her for her shield here is a tip to use her. Equip her S2 and activate her skill first before placing the shield to another operator. This is because she can only replenish one shield after her skill ends.)
