Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon - Mission 11: Attack the Watchpoint / Balteus Boss Fight
2The thrilling conclusion of Chapter 1 is upon us, and along with it, the infamous Balteus. But before reaching it, we do have to fight some more threats!
The mission starts in an environment with plenty of cover, which will help break line of sight with the snipers and enemy artillery as you advance to take them all out. You'll then reach a second area with more enemies ready to snipe you but less cover, so mobility is key here!
Things only get tougher after that, as you reach the Watchpoint's control center and encounter one of our predecessors, Sulla, who wants to put us down. His AC, Entangle, is a pretty potent force, with a bazooka, a pulse rifle, and plasma missiles. Don't be afraid to go all-out against him since you'll be resupplied right after.
And there's a reason for that, as you're now facing Balteus, an autonomous PCA craft with a lot of firepower! Its main attacks are missiles swarms and big explosive missiles (Announced by a red square and warning sound, jump away when those are fired). Later, it'll add machine gun fire and swipes with what's basically flaming swords that are difficult to avoid. As it nears destruction, it'll unleash one more attack, joining two flamethrowers to burn the ground to ashes, jump over it as soon as you see the red squares.
In terms of offense, a pulse gun will negate its barrier so it's worth having one, I used the weapon bay upgrade (Unlocked through OS chips) to swap between it and the blade (As soon as its barrier was down). For me, the key to this battle was conserving energy so I could jump and boost whenever a dangerous attack was coming.
And with that, Chapter 1 ends on a rather striking note!
