1Welcome to The Outer Worlds, a game set many years into the future, where mankind has begun colonizing worlds outside of our solar system. The game is developed by the RPG experts at Obsidian Entertainment, with lead programmer Tim Cain and many others, well known for their crafting of the iconic Fallout series.
The lore follows the same timeline as ours here on Earth but with one major difference. Instead of former US president William McKinley being assassinated in 1901, he is spared & remains in office. This change of the early 20th century results in vice president Teddy Roosevelt never succeeding him which has a myriad of consequences for the years to come.
The timeline continues into the 3rd millennia where humanity go on to colonizing various planetary systems across the milky way galaxy. But since Roosevelt could never rise to the top of the Republican Party, the major trusts of the time were never fragmented, with big business and aristocracy dominating all areas of the intergalactic political system for centuries to follow.
We begin our epic tale in the year of 2355, where two colony ships known as the hope & the groundbreaker have travelled to the Halcyon system to terraform and colonize the various terra-like planets. We play as the stranger, who is revived by the mad scientist Phineas Vernon Welles, both of whom were on the hope, which disappeared on transit to Halcyon. Our mission begins after being successfully revived from cryosleep with the objective being to gather the resources that can revive the rest of the hope colonists. Everything in between this main goal is up to the players choice. Thank you for checking this series out!
Note - This particular episode may have some choppy frames at times, playing on PC I was aiming for the perfect balance between graphics and performance and after switching visual effects down to medium this problem was almost fully mitigated. My apologies for not doing it sooner!
