I often get asked what Blizzcon is by those who are unfamiliar with Blizzard games or the event. On the surface level its an easy question to answer; Blizzcon is a celebration of Blizzard games, universes, characters, communities, and art. To myself and many others though, Blizzcon is so much more.

I always describe the event & weekend as the best kind of family reunion, and that's truly how it feels to me. I grew up a dedicated Blizzard fan, starting with Orcs & Humans, I also dove into the stories of Diablo & Starcraft, and began playing World of Warcraft in the pre-launch beta. I've been attending Blizzcon for 6 years now, and it's the one yearly event I'd never miss. Over the years I've made so many good friends in the Blizzard community, and always look forward to seeing them again and catching up. In trying to break down and explain what makes Blizzcon special, there is the palpable feeling of community bonds, the excitement in celebrating shared passion, and the collection of special moments throughout the weekend.

These 'special moments' can be anything. They can be shared with ten thousand fellow fans at opening ceremonies, or more privately with teammates playing demos together. It can be the seeing your favorite character brought to life, getting your hands on new gear (or pins), or cheering on your team in the world finals. These moments are shared between fans, developers, players, artists, cosplayers, streamers, and anyone else who makes there way down to Anaheim each November.

This small video is an example of one very special moment for our team while bringing Overwatch's newest character - Ashe - to life.
