A woman in San Francisco this week turned the tables on an alleged attacker, beating him repeatedly with a stick and giving him a bloody face and a ride to a hospital on a stretcher.

The woman, who is Asian, says she was waiting at a traffic light when the man punched her, prompting her to grab her stick and defend herself. Another Vietnamese man was also hurt in the attack.

Members of the Asian American community have increasingly been targets of harassment and violence since the coronavirus started spreading in the U.S. last year.
