Assembling Undead Creatures In A Monster Taming Roguelike Deckbuilder | The Corpsmen - Part 1
8Hello everyone! Here we are with a new release, a game that just been released from Early Access. This is The Corpsmen, a roguelike deckbuilder mixed with monster taming (and creature... assemblind more than creature collector), where assemble your team of creatures, using different parts (kinda like the way you assemble mechs in some games), each creature with their own deck of cards, and you play using a mix of those decks. You use them to fight, you level them up, get new cards and upgrade the existing ones. Concept is pretty good, my main problem being that the whole point of doing this is that every part gives you options to different types of cards... but you just don't know what you can get from them (or, at least, I didn't find any way to know what I am going to be getting). So, most of the time, you end up blindly assembling, while having no idea what the outcome will be (no idea what are the best parts for tank build or for an attacker, etc). Also, the game tells you that your creatures acquire "personality" depending on the use of cards, but I felt like that was a bit inconsistent, considering how hard I have been trying to get cunning creatures, and it just doesn't happen. Also, the starting deck is too random. I think it would have been a better idea that, depending on the parts you chose, they give you a selection of multiple basic cards and you create your deck from there, then modifying it depending on rewards, because sometimes you want a creature to be more defensive, but in the 3-cards options they only show you attacks, and you end up with a deck you didn't like in the first place.
Besides what I mentioned, the concept is pretty good and the game can be a lot of fun... It just takes a few blind runs.
