Well, where to begin... This is more of an overview video for people not necessarily following this game, more of a recap. I'll do a more traditional for me style video in the near term future.

So, where to start....

How about physics? Ahh yes.

I have to say, it's a pretty large improvement in many areas. There is much more sensitivity from the tires now. Cars have a bit more "dance" to them, which is nice. More progression, more liveliness, more difficult, more real, more fun.

Interestingly enough, my lap times on soft tires + 60L with the 458 GT2 in the release version matches what I did previously with hard tires on the same fuel. I find this funny considering how hard so many were trying to justify the quite ridiculous times seen previously. Seems Kunos agreed. Seems physics agreed. ;)

There is still a bit of a tendency for a car to understeer for what feels like an eternity when you bury the throttle to initiate a slide for example that I find slightly... odd. Curbing is still overly forgiving in many cases as well - the anti cut thingies in the first chicane at Imola is a good example.

FFB Minimum Force is a big change. The FFB is much improved on my end, which when coupled with the updated physics puts together a very solid driving experience.

However... then the wheels come off a bit.

Offline racing is subject to poor AI. You'll pass them all with ease on lap one, but then two cars are always way faster. Once you get to that stage they are plenty fast for my taste, but you pretty much get one or two guys to race with (depending on difficulty level ofc, I run 100%) - then there is the issue that they don't fight at all. Once you pass, you wont be repassed. They also brake quite early, so they are easy to pass. They give you something to aim for lap time wise, but... This is AI equal to that of a shooter game where the enemy gets stuck walking into a wall.

Online works pretty well, bar the fact the servers are primarily European (may be a plus for those in Europe obviously!) as well as the fact that with modding it WILL be a mess. There is also so far no word (to my knowledge) of how Kunos will handle DLC. Mechanically sound, a bit overly forgiving in terms of car to car contact I feel, but it's not that big of an issue.

Then there is the racing systems, or whatever you want to call it.
Different track rubber/grip levels are nice, but because it's preset and affects the whole track - not just the racing line - kind of defeats the purpose IMO.
No flag system was expected, but still needed in a racing game.
No rolling starts either.
Poor damage system that needs to be fixed to before it's usable.
Penalty system that should have been changed a year ago - the fact they havent makes me think they wont be changing it anytime soon. Turn it off, enjoy.

No rain / night racing - though both are certainly "luxury" features that I cant fault the game for not having. Just mentioning that because someone WILL ask. They'll still ask. (lol)

Graphically, it looks great. Runs even better, which as far as I'm concerned is much more important. Post processing can be customized, which is fantastic. I've used only provided filters in this video, but with time / tweaking / downloading from the forum you can find many better looking profiles depending on your taste.

Also, special note of the UI in game, which is AMAZING. Re positionable elements, easy to use app system and a wide variety of said apps both from Kunos and the mod community - this is the new standard for racing HUDs or whatever you want to call it. Whatever you want, where you want it, if you want it.

Sounds are all over the place, in particular the Lotus street cars sound like absolute trash and are excessively loud compared to others. Still needs work and refinement.

Overall, that is the story of AC's v1.0 release. Feels totally like it was rushed to be released in 2014 - and not 2015. Get it out the door during the steam sale and Christmas, fix it later. Common thought these days, doesn't change the fact there are still things that should be fixed. This isn't 1.0, this is more like .9.

Reading some of the things I've read about this game makes me laugh though, that is for sure. Lots of hyperbole about how good it is in the steam reviews - it's good, but still a long way to go. Looooong way. It's not the only option on the market like many seem to think. :|
