There are quite a lot of arcade games which have been revamped for the 21st century but Asteroid 2012 is one of the best for the Android phone or tablet.
It's a really timeless, classic game full of asteroids and villain aliens.
Unlike the old arcade games with their basic shoot-em-up styles, Asteroid 2012 3D Android has been optimised for Android phones and tablets and with the 3D graphics you get a full-on playing experience, you really could be there, taking part in a war of the worlds.
You can control the spaceship with virtual controls or you can use the accelerometer. Especially good for Xperia Play owners.
You won't find it too difficult to get to grips with the aliens as there is loads of upgradeable weaponry to deal with all the aliens and there are lots of different arenas for fantastic gameplay with a brand new UI.

The gameplay is fluid, intuitive and the frame rate is fabulous. It's a great adaptation of a traditional game with stunning graphics and evocative music.

We've been running it on the Samsung Galaxy Note and it's performed well. Taken a brief look at it on the Nexus 7 but not had enough time to get to grips with it there to assess what it's really like, but initially it looks very promising.
