Astroneer 1:12:05 Solo Any% Speedrun
19This is a Solo Any% Speedrun for Astroneer v1.9.85.0 in 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 5 seconds. The hunt for sub-1-hour begins!
We're back and at it again! This time, I had to beat Ash's 1:17:15 run, and boy was it difficult. I had 3 attempts that made it to late-game this Sunday. Each was a little faster than the previous. I'm getting a little more comfortable clipping into the planets with the shuttle, and I'm starting to adjust the route ever so slightly.
The big change this time, was to adjust the order of the early game, and head straight for the gateway, to collect rare resources and bytes while mining down. This removes a lot of the pressure when building the shuttle, but my inventory did get a bit stuffed when I tried to bring back 3 quarts, a zinc, and some graphite AND ammonium I found along the way. There's probably a better way to do that still. Because I'm picking up less graphite in Sylva's core, I wandered on Glacio's surface until I found enough to get me by. I like that change, but I still had to pick up some extra in the core of Glacio.
The previous run looked to be on pace, but I made a mistake, and lost my drill mod 2, and paid for it by losing 5 minutes on the back-half of the run. I probably won't be trying to slim up the run just yet, because losing a drill mod 2 stung pretty bad. To make matters worse, I Alt+F4'd out of the game to skip the credits, but I think that hurt me, and a phantom Astro.exe process was running behind the scenes when I started up another instance of the game. I think this cut into my performance a bit, and I also think the recording dropped lots of frames. (Sorry about that)
