At Last A Final Resting Place For WW1 Veteran
For decades Sergeant William Duguid, a veteran of the Somme has lain in an unmarked grave in an Edinburgh cemetery.
The First World War left him and his family in dire straits so he was buried in 1929 in an unmarked grave in Piershill cemetary.
However now he has a brand new memorial recognising his role during the First World War.
The McCrae's Battalion Trust have been fundraising for this memorial, a proper tribute to an extraordinary man.
In front of veterans, descendants of Royal Scots soldiers and serving members of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, his life and bravery was celebrated.
