If this official is killed or abducted by the aliens, it would undoubtedly spread panic amongst his friends and family and maybe, possibly reduce the effectiveness of XCOM kind of, but probably not. We need a squad of your soldiers to escort The Doorn safely to the extraction point, ignoring private Friendly.
