And then after multiple delays and false starts, the Atari 7800 hit the market several years after its intended debut, putting it in direct competition with the Nintendo Entertainment System. Advertising itself on the strength of its arcade ports, could the 7800 hope to compete with Nintendo's 8-bit console? Atari needed to bring out the big guns to promote this one, and the man they selected for the job... was "Grampa." Uh-oh.
