Atari ST Game: Twilight World
A huge moor stretches out to the horizon on both sides of the road. Heavy storm clouds are gathering in the sky. A few miles from here my car is lying dented in the ditch. I made it here on foot, but my strength is waning...
LOOK MANSION: From here it looks like the huge old mansion of a landgrave. Unfortunately I can't see any light.
LOOK MOON:The full moon can still be seen faintly behind the gathering clouds.
LOOK GROUND:In the increasing darkness I can only see a few tufts of heather, moss, grasses and some plants unknown to me.
LOOK PATH:This country road is in a very bad condition, with pothole after pothole.
LOOK CHAIN:I wear my little silver chain with a cross hanging on it.
LISTEN GROUND: The moor is silent, somewhere an owl is hooting and thunder is rumbling in the distance.
LISTEN TO CHAIN:With every movement it makes a quiet ringing sound.
SEARCH PATH:There is nothing unusual to be seen on the dirty road except sand, stones and large puddles of water.
SEARCH GRASS:To do that I would probably have to leave the street.
SEARCH MANSION:To do that I would have to get much closer.
SEARCH MOON:It's not possible for me from here!
Sometimes the end comes sooner than you think. But the moor preserves things quite well, one day I'm sure someone will find me...
I feel uneasy, something is watching me. From the outside, this building doesn't look particularly inviting, but I need help and a place to stay for the night.
LOOK STATUE:They look terrifying - who would put such statues in front of the entrance? Are they supposed to keep unwanted visitors away?
LOOK AT SWORD:He is holding a huge sword, not made for humans!
LOOK WALLS:A solid brickwork, somewhat weathered, probably from the last century.
Something is fluttering excitedly over my head. I should be more careful about who or what else I might startle...
Only the rushing and howling of the wind sings in my ears.
SEARCH STATUE:The material is unknown to me, an ice-cold shiver comes over me every time I touch it...
SEARCH SWORD:The edge of the sword is shiny and razor sharp. The statue holds it in an iron grip.
SEARCH WALLS:They are massive blocks carved out of rock and covered with moss.
SEARCH DOOR:Sturdy wood, the door hinges are solid, it cannot be opened or closed any further.
DESTROY DOOR:My bangs on the door resound loudly. Dust and sand trickle down on me.
Abandoned, emptied and ready for demolition! At first glance there is nothing to indicate the presence of any inhabitants, but the moonlight is so weak that you can't see much.
I talk quietly to myself, it calms me down. And no one hears it anyway...
Every time I shout something loudly, the noises in the house stop for a few moments.
LOOK AT BANISTER:The banister was once artfully carved, and now spiders of all sizes live there.
SEARCH STAIRS:Quite rotten and eaten away by woodworms, some of the steps already have considerable holes.
One minute I was feeling miserable and climbing the stairs in an abandoned country house. Now I feel fresh and alert, as if nothing had happened before. Everything around me seems somehow unreal, like in a dream world.
It looks like the mausoleum of a former ruler; from the outside it appears huge.
A terrible howl, like that of a wolf, makes me shudder...
In the distance you can hear the clatter of horses' hooves.
Mysterious runes are carved on a stone slab at the entrance. What they mean, however, is still unclear to me.
SEARCH GREENERY:Without a machete or something similar, I can't get any further.
SEARCH SAND:Just sand and stones, the path has been little used.
Only two coffins, but what else would you expect in a crypt. The only thing that worries me is the torch, it's burning...
A rusty wing of the iron grille of the cemetery gate has fallen off its hinges and is leaning against the wall. It's better if I leave this place, but what awaits me behind the gate?
I have never seen such a huge wolf up close. A single bite would probably be enough...
DROP CHAIN:A shadow flits past and before I know it my things are gone.
LOOK AT SKY:That's where heaven is! Maybe I'll get up there soon enough, but not yet.
Hey... what do we have here! Smells like human flesh, the master will be pleased with me..., says an ice cold voice.
LOOK AT/SEARCH/TALK TO MAN:Oh, you poor man... you'd better not do that. You have no chance against one of Mogur's henchmen, you'd better get out of here before I change my mind... he says.
The horse in front of me is snorting and drumming its hooves. All I hear from the rider are panting, hard-to-understand noises. They sound like: "Human flesh..." The rider skillfully throws a net over me, ties it up and drags me away with him...
What do you want, you little wretch? Your screaming won't do you any good, the guard whispers to me. He has opened the dungeon door and is looking at me bored. A huge rat creature stands before me. Its teeth and claws are impressively large and its tail dances restlessly back and forth...
