This requires 2 things at a minimum: Fertilizer Fuel Converter and either Extra Tractor Slot or Backup Generator. If you only have one of the tractor upgrades, Extra Tractor Slot is preferable because then the cooldown reduction applies to both tractors at the same time. Ideally, you'd have all 3 of those upgrades, though.

The gist of this is that there are two separate radii for the Wood Chipper Tractor. The first is the "vacuum" radius, where any enemies (except immovable ones like snakes) are pulled into the tractor. The tractor still harvests fertilizer from this radius. The second is the "kill" radius, which is much smaller and mostly localized around the tractor itself. Any enemy within this radius will have damage over time dealt to them.

Since most enemies cannot be pulled/pushed through walls, if you have a wall between the tractor and the enemies, with the tractor not close enough to put the "kill" radius over the wall, then the tractor will harvest them for fertilizer without killing them. The more enemies, the more fertilizer, so Plains 2 birds were the perfect choice.

The fertilizer you get then resets your tractor cooldown due to Fertilizer Fuel Converter, thus tens of thousands of fertilizer.
