The one ring, the mighty weapon of Sauron has been found by the unlikeliest of heroes, a hobbit of the shire Frodo Baggins. Upon the advice of Gandalf the Grey he has set forth upon a quest for Rivendell to deliver the ring to safety. But in the land of Mordor the Dark lord has learnt of the discovery of his precious and has sent forth his mightiest and most fell servants, the ringwraiths led by their mighty leuitanant, the Witch King of Angmar. After a narrow escape from the ringwraiths in the village of Bree, Frodo and his companions have put their trust in Strider a rugged ranger of the North. To lose their assailants he has lead them deep into the wilderness of Eregion, setting a winding course for the ruined watch tower of Amon Sul, where he hopes they might find Gandalf the Grey.
But the servants of the dark lord will not give up so easily on their quarry. Whilst four of his order assailed the heroes in Bree, the Witch King and his remaining wraiths have maintained a ceaseless vigil, waiting to spring their trap. The presence of the ring has called to them and under the cover of darkness they launch an assault upon the broken battlements of the great watchtower. Separated from their guide and protector, Frodo and his fellow hobbits must find courage in the face of great peril and hold out long enough for Aragorn to come to their aid.
