(Audio) Podcast Ep. 3 - Building a PC vs. Pre-Built?
In today's episode we dive into the pros and cons of building your own PC for virtual reality gaming. Ronnie helped Zain recently build his and we list out the parts below in case anyone is interested in making a similar type of PC. A couple of key points from our conversation include:
- Building a PC isn't as difficult as it seems, especially with the wealth of tutorials and guidance out there on the internet.
- Buying a pre-built PC will generally be more expensive than putting one together simply because you are paying for the service.
- Ronnie gives his opinions on what the real minimum system requirements for a PC are in order to have a good VR experience. It's not necessarily future-proofing, but going cheap on certain items by buying older versions my give you sub-par VR experiences.
- Most important items are of course the GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) and CPU processors. Recommendations are at least the NVidia 1070 for GPU and the i5 or i7 series for intel processors.
List of parts used for Zain's recently built PC. You can find all of these on Newegg.com (where Zain bought his):
