So I tried again, this time booting into Windows XP. I used the same exact setup as last time, routing audio into my Macbook Pro and doing only video on my desktop.

This time around, it looks like my video is a lont smoother.

I will say that I don't know what will happen for extended periods of gameplay, because VirtualDub tells me that it puts in a lot of null frames while recording. In the 2 minutes I recorded, it put in about 300 or so null frames. I'm not quite sure what null frames are, but I do know that if I completely disable null frames, then every time my computer misses a frame, it acts like the frame was never there in the final product, so the final video plays way too fast.

I'm also wary of using VirtualDub for recording. I showed how to do it with the EasyCap before, but the issue is that, with the Easycap, recordings under 10 minutes are for the most part, fine. Beyond that, the sound slowly gets more and more out of sync. I don't know if it's the sound or the video screwing up, but hopefully we won't run into the same problem here if I do audio/video capture separately.
