Check out the finale of my Xclusive Indie Playthrough series featuring the game Ayre and the Crystal Comet! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series families of consoles on April 18th, 2023. It was developed by Gordon Little and published by Eastasiasoft Limited.

In this video, Ayre continues to explore Skyriders Valley & visits the mysterious area known as Chanda's Vent.

Ayre and the Crystal Comet is a 3rd person adventure game where you take control of Ayre (a dragon rider who is the last of her kind) that has a pet dragon who she rides around on within a fairly large open world while learning about what happened to the rest of civilization. In the beginning of the game, Ayre finds herself within the Northern Mountains where she is attempting to learn more about the Skyriders, an ancient civilization of dragon riders, however, her attention is instead drawn to a crystal comet that has recently crash landed within the nearby land. After visiting the crystal comet, Ayre learns that as the crystal comet was plummeting towards the planet, it broke into fragments and those fragments were scattered across the nearby land. The crystal comet is too weak to rebuild itself and it needs Ayre's help to collect all of the fragments and bring it back to the crash site so that it can heal and rebuild itself. This is part of the primary story arc, however, Ayre can also learn more about the valley (and the Skyriders) by visiting various monuments and vistas (history markers).

The gameplay in Ayre and the Crystal Comet is actually a little complex as you have to memorize two sets of controls (which are actually a little clunky): one while riding the dragon and the other while on foot. You start the game off on foot and are able to glide with Ayre's built-in glider, however, most of the traversal will occur while riding Red, Ayre's dragon. As with most games, the Left Stick is used to move around while the Right Stick is used to control the camera. The Back Button can be used to view Ayre's journal where she logs many important pieces of information such as Red's skills/attributes, a map of the world (where she logs places she's been to), various stats and activities she's completed and also a list of the armor sets that she's collected. The A button can be used for various different actions such as skydiving while gliding, interacting with things within the world and also initiating flight and landing while on your dragon. You also have two different modes while riding Red: normal flight mode and hover mode which can be turned on and off using the Y button. Finally, the Right Trigger can be used to fly faster while the Left Trigger can be used to slow down while flying on Red. Overall, I would say that this game would primarily interest achievement hunters due to it's lack of a good story and its clunky gameplay.

Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: Ayre and the Crystal Comet currently includes a total of 23 achievements for a total of 2000 GS (with additional title updates that will increase this to total of 5000 GS eventually). None of the achievements are missable since this is an open world game and most of them involve exploring the world and colleting various items (such as pieces of armor) while also completing various activities (ring races, history markers, etc.). There are also a few miscellaneous achievement such as falling from a great height or jumping into water. That being said, this is a fairly easy completion that should take you around one to two hours to obtain the base 1000 GS while another hour to obtain the additional 1000 GS.
