Now Episode 14 is called War-Mantle. This a reference to Project War-Mantle which was a protocol carried out by the Galactic Empire that conscripted human soldiers into their ranks. We discover that the Empire have cancelled their contracts with the Kaminoans and that they are slowly putting the pieces in place to not only replace them but also the entire army.
Their days are numbered and nowhere is this more apparent than when we open with a lone soldier racing through the forests of Daro.
We learn that this is CC-5576 and those familiar with the other animated Star Wars shows will know that this is Gregor, a close Ally of Captain Rex. There were a lot of questions marks over how he came to be with Rex after he left with Ahsoka but this episode fills in the blanks.
I believe he's being chased by some Massiffs and these dog like creatures are native to Tattooine and also Genosis. Therefore I'm guessing that the clones got them from there after the battle in Attack Of The Clones but they may have used them in other things and my memory which is filled with useless information just can't recall it.
This scene also looks extremly similar to the opening of ET and I love the way that the torches move through the trees as the lone clone gets chased. It's a very dark and desperate opening and it also shows that some of the clones did question their chips and orders. This was of course shown through Howzer and Howzabout we stop giving the clones such a bad rep when there were those that managed to resist the Empire.
Cut to the Batch who get a message from Rex. He wants the group to rescue said clone and seems like he's up to something which is why he can't do it himself. I'm guessing that the character has been spying on the imperials for the Rebels and that we will see him come back for the penultimate epiosde.
Cut to Kamino which we see is now heavily occupied by the imperials. They are immobilising every clone and clearly putting something into play. Needless to say they have a bad feeling about this and though they typically tend to seem all business I love how Nala Se still clearly cares for the children. She clearly tried to protect Omega through hiring Fennec Shand and when we're introduced to her here she's also trying to move Children to safety.
